We cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition CECOSLOVACCHIA.
The exhibition presents a unique project aimed at "transferring" the building of the Czech and Slovak exhibition pavilion from the historic part of the Venice Biennale Giardini to the Czech Republic, bringing it literally closer to the domestic audience. The pavilion, whose facade still bears the Italian inscription CECOSLOVACCHIA, referring to the now non-existent state, was built in 1925 to present the then Czechoslovak Republic at the prestigious international contemporary art exhibition La Biennale d'Arte di Venezia. The exhibition deals not only with the history of the pavilion and its current state but also with the cultural and political developments in both countries, which the pavilion continues to connect despite the dissolution of Czechoslovakia.
We invite artists, experts, and colleagues from partner institutions to participate in an open discussion on the history and future direction of the pavilion. Visitors can look forward to two thematically focused lectures and a guided tour of the exhibition. The afternoon program will also offer a creative workshop for visitors of all ages.
