With summer, we are once again opening our gallery's summer cinema on the steps of the amphitheatre.
Cities are changing under the pressure of advertising, cars, and development projects. Public space is disappearing. Guerrilla artists take to the streets to awaken society and show that cities belong to the people.
The film explores the shifting dynamics of public space in major cities and reveals how art can inspire people to reclaim their surroundings. Through artistic actions and performative lectures, Urban Disobedience Toolkit illustrates ways of “taking the city back.” Artistic interventions flow organically through the film under the direction of Vladimír Turner, an artist who has been working in public space for nearly two decades. The film’s title, alludes to the idea that every action depicted unveils the avant-garde potential of art—art that is not mere decoration, but a radical intervention and driving force challenging a conservative, technocratic view of the world.
Urban Disobedience Toolkit, 81 min., 2025, director Vladimír Turner, In Czech with English subtitles
