Jumbisté: JUMBO
An original puppet theatre performance by Antonie Formanová and Anna Klimešová, telling the true story of Jumbo, the most famous elephant of the nineteenth century. This giant elephant became a beloved attraction at the London Zoo, later a star of the American circus, and an icon of the so-called “Jumbomania”.
Big. Giant. Grand. Colossal. XXXL. Hugely entertaining. Jumbo.
The largest elephant in recorded history, and one of the world's first animal celebrities. More than 15 million adults and 4 million children came to see him. Known for his extraordinary size, Jumbo became a beloved figure in Great Britain and later in the United States, where he was purchased by P. T. Barnum's circus.
How did his admirers see him, and what was he really like? A big elephant with big nightmares.
Step inside the mind of an elephant who was never alone, yet always lonely.
The Jumbists, collectors of Jumbo memorabilia, invite you to experience an unforgettable jumbo adventure.
