Homesharing: Ordinary Days with Extraordinary Children
Opening of a photographic exhibition capturing both joyful and everyday moments from the lives of children with autism and their hosts. Through authentic photographs, visitors will gain an insight into the world of homesharing – a form of respite care in which people from the wider community open their homes and hearts to children with autism and intellectual disabilities. The opening event will also include an afternoon clothing swap and a discussion with homesharing coordinators.
The exhibition captures real moments from everyday life: cooking together, going on trips, or simply sharing quiet moments. It reveals relationships built on trust and shows that even seemingly small gestures can have a profound impact. For caregiving parents, homesharing offers an opportunity to take a break; for children, it brings new friendships; and for hosts, it provides an experience that changes the way they see the world.
Hosts are not professional caregivers, but companions and friends. This exhibition is therefore not only a visual experience, but also an invitation to reflect on how much sharing an “ordinary” life can mean to someone else.
Programme:
3:00 pm – clothing swap (bring items you no longer wear and take home something new to you)
5:00 pm – exhibition opening
5:15 pm – discussion with homesharing coordinators Eva Černá and Kateřina Havlíčková
The exhibition runs until 28 August 2026.
Free admission.
