Josefina Dusk • mc broskvičky

Musician Josefina Dusk transforms feelings of anxiety, panic and l'appel du vide into playful yet dystopian, dense techno-pop charged with manic fairy energy. mc broskvičky are a feminist dada compote made of childhood diaries, synthetic dreams and slightly sticky nostalgia. Join us for the opening of the new D29 season!

Josefina Dusk’s energetic live shows, filled with striking costumes, make-up and dance, are an original meditation on both the beauty and terror of existence itself. Josefina began composing music in London, where she spent three years after finishing secondary school. During the pandemic, however, she returned to her hometown of Tábor, where she cared for animals and neighbours, planted trees and devoted herself fully to creating experimental electronic music. As a trained actress, she enjoys playing with words and often sings in an invented language.

Josefina Dusk’s latest album, méh₂tēr, explores her experience of motherhood and bodily transformation. Raw joy, sleepless nights, tears and laughter – everything is laid bare. Josefina uses this opportunity to reflect on her own experience of childbirth – a subject that is often approached in a mechanical and matter-of-fact way, yet remains shrouded in an ancient magical mystique. Are mothers tribal fertility goddesses, or simply factories producing people? Are they expected to fulfil an archetype, or preserve their own identity? If you “listen with your ears half-closed”, you may hear all of these questions resonating throughout méh₂tēr – in its distinctive blend of sentimental techno ballads, bubbling acid hymns and slightly off-kilter lo-fi bedroom pop. In the end, it is simply a love letter to a small creature crawling across a belly like a wounded soldier trying to avoid gunfire in a 1970s war film.

Josefina Dusk’s performances are, among other things, suitable for damp cave revelries and Baroque stages. We will enjoy her cheeky sci-fi synth-pop while opening the new season in the cosy surroundings of Klub 29.

mc broskvičky are not a band! They are rotting post-apocalyptic fruit. Sweet and fuzzy. A sonic compote of childhood diaries, synthetic dreams and slightly sticky nostalgia. Melancholy with jam. A performative fructus in the midst of an identity crisis. They are searching for a new variety of sensitivity for the post-collapse era. Their concerts oscillate between pop ritual, cringe rap, performance art and collective hallucination. Self-irony as a survival strategy, intimacy becoming politics, fragility becoming a form of resistance.
