Ferst Dadler & Loré Lixenberg: ˈkonfɛrɛnt͡sɛ
An original and unrepeatable performance, ˈkonfɛrɛnt͡sɛ, created by the international collective Ferst Dadler and renowned British opera singer and sound artist Loré Lixenberg. Enter a space where insects, plants, flowers, people and objects are equal, mutually dependent, and constantly shifting in their positions.
ˈkonfɛrɛnt͡sɛ is a reflection on sound, movement and the limits of human perception. It is also an indoor version of the project Zahradníiíiíiíiíi republika (Garden Republic), a participatory performance about the founding of a fictional republic in the public garden behind City Gallery Pardubice (GAMPA) in the area of the Automatické mlýny complex. That outdoor event will take place on Sunday 21 June.
The title refers to the meaning of the word “conference” – a gathering for consultation or receiving advice on important matters. According to the creators, ˈkonfɛrɛnt͡sɛ is a conference as you know or imagine it – and at the same time one unlike anything you have ever experienced. As with any conference, audiences may choose their own degree of participation. The result is an original and unrepeatable work that brings experience gathered during the making of the outdoor project Zahradníiíiíiíiíi republika into the theatre space.
The aim is to share with audiences the core values of this newly founded republic and, through music and dance, discuss its future. Come if you are interested in music, dance, visual art or experimental theatre. Come if you wish to be stimulated, inspired, or even left in boredom… and especially come if you feel constrained and disoriented by current neoliberal trends and are wondering how to pay this month’s rent.
In 2023 and 2024, Ferst Dadler realised a related project in the gardens of Troja Chateau and the Franciscan Garden in central Prague, followed by its indoor “conference” version at Palác Akropolis. This later inspired the radio work Republika Zahradníiíiíiíiíi, which won the Music category at Prix Italia 2025 in Naples, one of Europe’s most prestigious showcases of radio and television production.
Ferst Dadler brings together artists whose work moves freely across the widest possible spectrum of contemporary performing arts, without the clear dominance of any traditional genre. In their interdisciplinary and genre-defying projects, they often invite reflection on social practices, and performance becomes a space for deep collective thinking that moves beyond language and conventional definitions.
Loré Lixenberg is a British mezzo-soprano, sound artist and performer whose practice radically expands the possibilities of the voice across opera, experimental music, sound art and performance. She explores voice as a physical, relational and imaginative medium, dissolving boundaries between human, non-human and machine sound. Her work moves between classical technique, extended vocal methods, improvisation, humour, electronics and multimedia structures. She has performed internationally in opera houses, theatres and festivals, interpreting works by Karlheinz Stockhausen, György Ligeti, Pauline Oliveros, Trevor Wishart, Georges Aperghis, Harrison Birtwistle and Phill Niblock. As a creator, she develops participatory and digital-analogue operatic systems and pursues research connecting artificial intelligence, medieval music and the principles of Ars Nova.
