WWW Neurobeat • Zaffer 9

After seven years, WWW Neurobeat return to D29 to present their latest album Zasej obojky a sklidíš psy! They will be preceded by the post-club duo Zaffer 9, who released their powerful and unsettling debut Mother Lode last year.

WWW Neurobeat began in the wild 1990s as a group of graffiti writers who also rapped with remarkable ease, ignoring taboos and genre boundaries alike. Shortly after receiving an offer to record an album, however, they split up. The release of their debut Neurobeat in 2006 therefore came as a surprise—not only because of its timing. The orthodox hip-hop community was particularly taken aback by the band’s open embrace of non-hip-hop influences.

The music of the band’s frontman Ondřej Anděra works with fragments of hip-hop techniques, field recordings from everyday reality, nervous industrial sounds, and unsettling electronic structures, with a strong emphasis on rhythmic drive. The sound of WWW Neurobeat is a frantic introversion turned inside out—a grotesque sprint of an overstimulated mind into the city’s stable, streets sliced up by diseased senses, the clatter of civilization. Anděra’s rap balances between rhythmic playfulness and an intense, furious, almost aggressive invocation. The whole is multiplied and tempered by the metallic voice of singer Milesa. The abstract lyrics of WWW Neurobeat are largely authored byLubomír Typlt.

The core of the D29 concert will be the latest album Zasej obojky a sklidíš psy, but the set will also include tracks spanning the band’s entire repertoire.

The Czech–Slovak duo Zaffer 9 has been building a reputation as a distinctive musical project since their first EP Milk (2023), balancing on the edge between experimental electronics and a dark club aesthetic. Their live performances are marked by heavy beats, hypnotic synthesizers, and vocals oscillating between spiritual chant and raw emotional outcry. Last year’s debut Mother Lode is the duo’s most personal and radical work to date—an intimate yet apocalyptic sonic probe into the depths of collective and personal experiences of trauma, anger, and redemption. The album combines layers of distorted synthesizers, screams, pulsating rhythms, and unsettling moments of silence.
