post-hudba • Lichnovský

post-hudba returns to its musical roots, once again exploring folk influences, gritty guitars, grainy noise, and abstract lyrics. Choruses are still present, but they arrive unexpectedly, sometimes breaking into emptiness. Their fourth album, Nad prázdnou nocí kroužili sokoli, draws inspiration from folk storytelling, horror, fantasy, and pure lyricism. Opening the night will be Lichnovský, a fellow artist from the Bad Names community label.

The Prague-based duo post-hudba blends songwriting structures with fractured electronics. Nearly 15 years ago, they burst onto the scene with an uncompromising aesthetic of relationship-induced despair and dissonant noise textures. Since then, producer Tomáš Havlen and vocalist/lyricist Dominik Zezula have released multiple EPs and four full-length albums—the latest, Nad prázdnou nocí kroužili sokoli, is out now. After their previous record, My všichni tady a teď, which was built on bold choruses and polished electronic production, post-hudba now dives into the raw waters of post-punk and guitar-driven riffs.

"Sokoli is the most instrumentally traditional, ‘band-like’ incarnation of post-hudba we can imagine right now," says Havlen, who, in addition to producing, also recorded guitars, piano, and even viola for the album. "Every song works with the same palette of live instruments, with synths pushed to the periphery. I’m no virtuoso, so it was a challenge—but that was the point: to find unconventional ways each instrument could sound." This DIY approach to songwriting marks a return to their earliest days, when the duo recorded their first EPs at home, without external help or pop-music references.

Musician Lichnovský, known from the band Parta vynikajících lidí, has embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut album Ideálně napořád last year. The album’s production was shaped by club beatmaker nevertouch, and weird-pop artist ivy z joins Lichnovský on vocals—both in the studio and on stage.

Zdeněk Lichnovský’s tracks delve into themes of unwanted memories, mental health, and the necessity of self-control, offering a radically honest mix of truth and fiction. This genre-fluid project effortlessly shifts from calm acoustic passages to pulsating eurodance frenzy and grandiose glam rock guitars, creating a truly unpredictable and dynamic musical experience.
