Summer 2001. Seventeen-year-old Kien, sporting a bright red hairstyle, returns to his family at the Cheb marketplace after ten years in Vietnam. Instead of a warm welcome, he finds a distant father, a worried mother, and a younger brother who won’t cut him any slack. Between heat-pressing Pokémon onto T-shirts, drilling Czech grammar, and sneaking out on lakeside dates, a long-buried secret surfaces — one that will turn life at the marketplace upside down...
