La Reine – A Feature-Length Documentary Debut by Director Nikola Klinger.

The film focuses on 73-year-old nonconformist Ian, who lives on a former lavender farm in the south of France, where he produces traditional essential oils. Despite his past struggles with drugs, he has never completely freed himself from addiction—nor does he try to anymore. Yet, in his own unique way, he remains an inspiration and mentor to those around him, fostering a strong sense of community.

Beyond Ian's personal story, La Reine delves into broader social processes and invites reflection on the duality of things—nature, from which humans distill fragrant products; medicine, which can also be a drug; and even care, which can sometimes turn destructive.

The film had its world premiere at the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival in 2023.
