Jungle Debris feat. Axel Dörner (CZ/D)

The Prague trio Jungle Debris in a joint concert with the Berlin-based trumpet wizard Axel Dörner, a key figure of the European music scene in the fields of improvisation, modern jazz, and contemporary music. One show only in the Czech Republic!

The music of Jungle Debris ranges from playful song-like structures and droning minimalism through dissonant lyricism to dense, expressively urgent passages. The building of form and structure naturally alternates with their subsequent deconstruction, and the band’s work has long been moving toward crossing both genre and instrumental boundaries. In 2021, Jungle Debris released their first eponymous album on the Ma Records label, created during the band’s residency at Divadlo 29. Another recording, titled Fisherman Sessions, was released in 2023.

Axel Dörner is a major European trumpeter and composer who has been developing a completely unique approach to trumpet playing since the 1990s, partly based on unconventional - often self-invented - techniques. From that time to the present day, it has been clear that he plays the trumpet like no one else. He is primarily connected with musicians and communities in Berlin, London, Chicago, and New York. Most of the ensembles he is part of are characterised by non-hierarchical collaboration among the musicians involved. He has worked with artists such as Otomo Yoshihide, Isabelle Duthoit, Phil Minton, Ken Vandermark, Toshimaru Nakamura, Tobias Delius, and many others. His discography includes more than 150 albums.
