David Těšínský: Burning Lungs of the Planet

Every year, thousands of hectares of the Amazon rainforest are intentionally destroyed. Some areas are harvested, while the majority are set on fire to illegally provide farmers with more land. This has a devastating impact on the indigenous tribes living there. The images in this exhibition depict the devastation left behind by agricultural and mining companies in the Amazon, the lives of the indigenous people in this environment, and the consequences of climate change that are slowly altering our planet. The cycle of photographs was created during the extensive Amazon fires of 2020.

The photographer has previously gained attention with numerous projects. He has documented hard-working Japanese businessmen, drug addicts in Prague, the war-torn Donbas, ghettos in Africa and Asia, the consequences of gang wars in Central America, and much more.

David Těšínský (*1990) is an independent photographer, photojournalist, and traveler. He has published in many Czech and international media outlets and has won multiple Czech Press Photo awards.

The exhibition will run until April 10, 2025. Admission is free.
