A concert by Ai fen presenting her new albumI’ve Been a Body, in which she explores the fragility and transience of physicality through the prism of motherhood. Before Ai fen, the respected visual artist Anna Ruth will present her ambient project Koruth.

Ai fen, an artist of Chinese-Polish background also known from the witchwave duo ba:zel, released a powerful new album I’ve Been a Body last autumn after a three-year break. The record turns away from electronic production toward expansive, piano-based contrastive compositions that at times open into wide drone landscapes, and it examines a decision faced by every biological woman: to be or not to be a mother? On her previous albums, Ai fen circled around experimental pop with elements of scream, subtly blending in ambient and techno influences. In the new songs, she allows herself complete freedom—moving effortlessly from flute to piano, traditional Chinese instruments, or autotuned vocals. She is often joined by backing vocals from Ema Brabcová (Khoiba), Adriána Vančová (Adriana Morn), as well as percussion by Kateřina Malá and Andrea Rottin from the band Oswaldovi. The latter two musicians will also accompany Ai fen at Divadlo 29.

Koruth is the musical project of the award-winning visual artist Anna Ruth. Her visual work is connected with imaginary worlds, mythology, and spiritualism—and her music is equally mysterious and ethereal. Her concerts are characterised by intuitive improvisation with electronically manipulated voice and recorder, as well as by the gathering of surrounding sounds captured into endlessly looping layers that accumulate, deepen, and deform into dreamlike sonic images—sometimes enchanting, sometimes unsettling.

Koruth collaborates with the electronic project Kult Masek (Kult Koruth) and has also performed with cellist Vojtěch Havel (their first meeting was initiated by Divadlo 29 within Art’s Birthday 2023).

The concert is organised within the project Electroconnexion 2026, with financial support from the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Statutory City of Pardubice, and the Pardubice Region.
