Fanfán Tulipán was originally formed in the Spring 2009 by Eliška Vidomus (formerly Svobodová). Besides original compositions the signature sound of the band is created by the wind instrument melodica and the Estonian zither kannel, both frequently used in the arrangements. In 2009, the band has won two music contests: Mladí ladí jazz and the Czech part of an international competition Jazz Prix. Because of that, Fanfán Tulipán was able to release its debut album Polyorama in February 2011. The band has performed at the Czech, Slovak, German, Bulgarian and Romanian jazz festivals (Jazz Goes To Town, Bohemia Jazz Fest, Bratislavské Jazzové Dni, Jazz an der Donau, Bansko Jazz Fest etc.). EP Vulpea Lunatică is their second release and was recorded 16. 2. 2017 in Divadlo 29, Pardubice. The name means "sleepwalking fox" in Romanian. Author of the cover art is Dutch illustrator Lieke van der Vorst.
