Pan Nikdo proti Putinovi (Mr. Nobody Against Putin)
As an exclusive bonus to the program of the One World Pardubice 2026 festival, we are adding the Czech-Danish film Mr. Nobody Against Putin, a recent recipient of the prestigious Academy Award for Best Feature Documentary. The internationally acclaimed film has received further recognition this year, including a British BAFTA award.
An intimate and gripping testimony of a teacher who stands up to propaganda draws you directly into the reality of present-day Russia.
Pavel “Pasha” Talankin lives in a small Russian town and is a popular teacher at a local primary school. With the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine, the content of his work changes completely. He is forced to organise activities in line with new wartime curricula and document them on camera. The demands placed on teachers intensify, Pasha’s former students leave for the front, and the atmosphere in the town grows increasingly tense. Frustrated, Pasha decides to fight in the only way he knows how. He begins filming not only the state-mandated activities, but also everyday life at school and beyond, with the aim of showing the world the impact of war and an authoritarian regime on a local community.
Mr. Nobody Against Putin offers a unique insight into the workings of Russian propaganda and tells a tense story of a man who decides to risk everything in order to remain true to his values.
