Na druhé straně léta (The Other Side of Summer)

A mysterious film about growing up, female friendship, and an endless desire to escape elsewhere. The coming-of-age film by director Vojtěch Strakatý was shot at the Seč Reservoir.

Fifteen-year-old Bětka and her best friend Alma spend a sleepy summer at a cottage by a pond. What they long for most is to get to a party at a beach bar on the opposite shore. But Bětka’s older sister Marie, who is in charge of the girls, refuses to let them go. The hot days drag on until Alma meets Aneta, a mysterious girl who has discovered an enigmatic pool on an island in the middle of the pond. Supposedly, it can transport a person anywhere in the world. Alma doesn’t hesitate and decides to dive somewhere that is surely better. But does such a place even exist? And what would be the price of a wish come true?

The film by director Vojtěch Strakatý had its world premiere at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival 2025, in the Proxima competition section.
