LVMEN • Gertie Adelaido

The cult band Lvmen have released a new album after eight years and will perform at D29 for the very first time! Before them, Gertie Adelaido will deliver an uncompromising set at the intersection of noise, screamo and electronic music.

In the early 1990s, Neurosis – with their powerful, physically and mentally demanding, cathartic sound – became a major inspiration for many people seeking depth in music through volume and emotion. Among those who fell under the spell of this phenomenon were a group of young punks from the Czech Republic, who named themselves Lvmen in 1993. Their first two albums were released on Day After Records in 1998 and 2000. On these records, the Neurosis sound intersects with the nervous tension of Slint, the riff-driven heaviness of Unsane, and a completely distinctive sonic approach that would become the band’s trademark. Their concerts were legendary, and it’s no exaggeration to say that on this side of the Atlantic, they were just as inspiring for their fans as the very bands that influenced them.

At the turn of the millennium, however, due to various personal upheavals, Lvmen suddenly went silent. It wasn’t until 2006 that the band showed signs of life again, finding new energy with their third album Mondo, followed by the crushing Heron in 2008. Many believed these albums would bring Lvmen back to the top, but fate decided otherwise – an unexpected and fatal blow in the form of the death of guitarist Dáda forced the band into another hiatus. As if that weren’t enough, after nine years of silence and just before releasing their new record, Lvmen unexpectedly lost another member in the summer of 2017. The band still managed to complete the album Mitgefangen Mitgehangen, proving that despite the tragedies haunting them like a shadow, they hadn’t lost any of their strength. This was evident in their concerts, where, reinforced by new members and two drum kits, they delivered a series of powerful, cathartic shows. Shortly after that run, the band began working on new material. The creative process included guitarist Tomis, who had recorded Lvmen’s first two cult albums. Their new record, Amen, released in July 2025 again on Day After Records, captures the band in excellent form. The album is tight and heavy, yet full of mysterious, elusive atmosphere, signature samples and uncompromising rhythmics — a clear statement that Lvmen are back in full force.

Gertie Adelaido is a non-binary open channel, sound experimentalist, artist and meta-punk; the creator of ADHD-core. In the very heart of chaos, they blend harsh noise, raw experimental sound, hardcore, metal, screamo and contemporary electronics into a unified, fully formed whole. Gertie’s work occupies a restless in-between space — too experimental for hardcore, too hardcore for the experimental scene — and the result is a unique genre-crossing hybrid. They scream, sing and modulate their voice, but above all they spread a message and fight for human and animal rights, all carried by a harsh yet fragile sense of melancholy. They are currently preparing their debut album, much of which has already been performed live alongside Xiu Xiu, Leya, The Body, Pharmakon, Dreamcrusher or the death-metal band Portal
