Fossilis

A site-specific performance responding to the theme of transience, created by combining two short movement and dance pieces. It explores transience from two perspectives. Each place has its own dead point — a fossil from ancient lives that remains and simultaneously transforms throughout its existence. Buildings from the past dressed in living nature. Remnants of walls and fences overgrown with plants and inhabited by animals. How might plants and animals feel as they permeate these dead places? What does a person feel who becomes aware of how closely the past coexists beside the future, the fading alongside the emerging, the dead with the living?

The fear of death and the desire for a permanent state of physical existence lead to the idea of a person as a living fossil — a human who refuses to submit to natural decay and transformation. What might a fossil of a contemporary human look like? What image and legacy would it leave behind? The performers let the answers to these questions penetrate through their bodies. Their movement is also inspired by the exhibition of Jakub Ružinský, currently on display at Klub 29.

Performed by: Natálie Vacková, Jolana Šturmová, Barbora Ptáčková

Admission: 100 CZK

The exhibition and accompanying events program at Klub 29 is supported by the statutory city of Pardubice.
