Bára Zmeková comes to Divadlo 29 as part of her Christmas tour, performing with her band and a special programme! 

An acclaimed composer, pianist, and singer with a unique voice and expression, Bára Zmeková moves fluidly between jazz, folk, classical music, and gentle electronics in her original Czech-language songs. She is unafraid of experiment and discovery, drawing listeners in with her distinctive piano playing and the emotional depth of her lyrics. The fragility and urgency of her songs are lightened by humour and perspective, and she alternates between piano and synthesizers.

Although she writes mostly in Czech, her music reaches audiences beyond her home country. Her performances include Jazz Athens Festival (Greece), BLOK Musica (Toronto), the World Expo 2025 in Japan, SheArts Festival (Egypt), the world music showcase WOMEX 2020 (Finland), the Banát Festival (Romania), and many more venues across Europe and beyond.

She now performs with her band — Viktor Dořičák (drums), Pavel Šmíd (bass, vocals), and Michal Mihok (accordion) — as part of her Christmas tour, presenting a special programme that spans her musical journey, from early songs to brand-new, unreleased material.

Bára Zmeková began playing piano at the age of four. She studied at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory and pursued Hindi studies at Charles University. Her debut album Ještě kousek (Just a Little More, 2013) was followed by the critically acclaimed Lunaves (2019), which earned her two nominations for the Anděl Music Awards. In 2022, she released the live recording Live at Gong from the Colours of Ostrava festival, followed in spring 2024 by her latest studio album Jediný na světě (The Only One in the World). She has collaborated with Lenka Dusilová, Kittchen, Tomáš Liška, Petr Tichý, Ondřej Ježek, and others.
